  • Can anyone please read where this chap was born

John ?W? White aged 44 on the 1871 Census for 5 Bell Street, Ryhope (RG/5012 Page 26 Folio 118. I can tell its Co. Durham but I just cannot read the place name.

Your help would be much appreciated. If it helps on the 1851 Census it says he was born in Gateshead. At the time he was living with inlaws at New Square, Monkwearmouth.

    Thank you.

I don't know, I haven't traced him back before the 1851 Census when he was living with his inlaws.

Hello - yes I have their marriage details. Think I shall send for a copy certificate to get details of his father. This might help some progress. June quarter 1850 Sunderland.

Sorry if I am not back for a while - off to make some tea.

Hello Julie, I have seen this tree on Ancestry but there are others which are more complete. Many thanks for looking for further details. Shall come back in the morning with other details of my research. Thank you for taking the time to look up this family.
