  • Not finding family on 1911.........

Would someone mind having a look please on 1911 for this family.....not having much luck myself.

    Charles Brandon born 1860 Bristol
wife: Ellen Cocklin born 1872 Manchester area.

In 1891 they are residing at Snow Hill Manchester and in 1901 at St George in the Fields area of Manchester.

Between 1890 and 1900 they had 5 daughters....3 of whom died. I am almost certain there was more children but can't find them or where Charles and Ellen are....most likely still in Manchester.

Yes she was Val thank you. So maybe Charles has died, or they are separated? Could you not spot him Val?
Did it say how many children she had with her Val?

There is a Charles Brandon, 46, widower, Coal Heaver, at 31/33 Hanover Street, Manchester in 1911. He is one of a large number of boarders there and was apparently born in Birmingham but I could not see a Charles Brandon, b. Birmingham, in earlier censuses. Perhaps this one is yours?
A Charles Brandon, 57, also died at Prestwich, Lancs, June 1918, 8d 330.

Thank you Merleyone, definately not the first one though quite possibly that's his death, which would mean he was still alive in 1911 (born 1860, so died 1917ish)....... so can only assume he and Ellen must have separated...how sad, after 9 children. But having said that, their youngest was only 5 months old at 1911 census......so where was he?

Could be him Val, but states he was 57, yet on the 1911 his age is 60. Perhaps he was uncertain.

that age has been mistranscibed in 1911 it should be 50 ? if you look closely

Yes you're right Val....further confirmation that I can't add up this late ..... born 1860, so coming up to 51....so that death probably is him.
