Just found a very promising-looking record (for a friend's tree) in the FMP databases:
WWII Escapers & Evaders
First Name(s) W M
Last Name FORD
Rank Gunner
Unit 1st Air Landing Light Regiment
Soldier Number 5958239
Series Name: POW - Escape report
TNA series: WO208
TNA piece number: 3351
WEA No: 2/656/2129

If anyone is going to Kew sometime soon, it would be very helpful if I could have images - especially if the "W M" is "William Maurice" from Watford, or thereabouts. (William Maurice FORD died in 1999.)

There has been a bereavement in that family very recently and I think that something like this would be a little something to cheer them. If it's the right record, he was part of "The Bridge Too Far" (the Arnhem drop) - which I think was code-named "Operation Market Garden" or something... but that could be wrong.

I do have a reader's card myself (have to check if it's still current), so would certainly look for that if I were to get a chance to go, myself.

Thanks to Ann Swabey, I now have the records safely - and have passed them on to very great appreciation by the family.
