  • Upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 - advice needed

Thought I had better consult you before I upgrade. My google email keeps advising me to upgrade to I.E. 8 from my existing 7. Anyone know of a downside to doing it? I take it, the upgrade is free from what I have read so far.

    Thanks...

It is a bit different, but works far, far better than IE7.

To be honest Liz I have gone on to Google Chrome as my new default Internet browser. It is so much faster and better than IE and it only
takes a short while to get used to it. I find IE to be very slow after using Chrome. You can easily revert back to IE at any time.

I tried Firefox and installed it but didn't get on with it...

I installed the G. Chrome but didn't like the typeface etc for my google mail. So uninstalled it and now installed I.E. 8 with silverlight add on for extra protection. Whew! Thanks folks...

I thought it was IE9 now?

Support for Internet Explorer 11 has ended on June 15, 2022. Make the switch to Microsoft Edge to experience the web in a whole new way.

I thought silverlight was to do with running videos etc, not protecting your PC.

You have to have upgraded to version 8 before do 9 I think...

Thanks Elaine. One downside I have already found is that it is creating a new favourite folders for bookmarking web pages. Could do with amalgamating with existing favourites.
