Ron, have amended your post to include Australian marriage in the title.
Some idea of date might be useful to anyone who thinks they might be able to help.

Why do English certificates cost you more than the equivalent of £9.25 (apaprox 15 AUD)
I was under the impression that if you order from the General Register Office the price was £9.25 irrespective of where in the world it is sent to.
It's also worth remembering that NSW has a system for allowing authorised transcriptions of BMD records if you don't need the information to be certified. They are significantly cheaper than certificates, but you have to be confident of the quality of the transcriber.
There's usually a lot more info on an Australian cert than on a UK one.

Leonard BENNETT in Detroit & Florida ; WARR/WOR, STRATFORD & GARDNER/GARNAR (Oxon); CHRISTMAS, RUSSELL, PAFOOT/PAFFORD (Hants); BIGWOOD, HAYLER/HAILOR (Sussex); LANCASTER (Beds, Berks, Wilts) - plus - COCKS (Spitalfields, Liverpool, Plymouth); RUSE/ROWSE, TREMEER, WADLIN(G)/WADLETON (Devonport, E Cornwall); GOULD (S Devon); CHAPMAN, HALL/HOLE, HORN (N Devon); BARRON, SCANTLEBURY (Mevagissey)...
There are three transcribers for NSW records and it takes about a week. You can get their names and email addresses or websites from the NSW BDM website.
They are all pretty accurate and the one I use will even answer questions if you are not sure - I had a birth cert with birth date as 9/7/1861 and a registration date of 7/9/1861, so I checked that this was right as it seem a bit of a co-incidence, and it was, born 9 Jul, registered 7 Sep. They also take orders and send you the transcript by email, which is much quicker than waiting for the post.

Although the Newcastle newspapers are not transcribed on TROVE, it would seem that William and Eliza and their children moved to Sydney at some time.
William died in 1927 and Eliza in 1913 - the funeral notices give the names of the children and the married names of the daughters. The NSW death indexes give CHARLES W and JANE as Williams parents and RICHARD and ELIZA for Eliza's. Both are buried at Woronora Cemetery in southern Sydney - their indexes are on-line.
The parents names and fathers occupation may or may not be on the marriage certificate, but as late as 1884, they should be. Earlier it was more common for details not be sent to the registrar in Sydney, but the church register did have the information.

it is 9 pounds wherever you buy them from elaine, but the conversion rate means it is the same price roughly as a vic aus cert, which is $17.50, and way more detailed! the converison rate is $1 = 69 pence atm

The Ryerson index can be useful for Australian newspaper death announcements. You need to make sure you pick up the correct link. There was a rogue site for a while, at least, claiming to do the same but charging money for the info.
The Ryerson index is run by volunteers, but welcomes donations.
