  • Details of a convict in Australia...what does it say??

I'm trying to decipher this writing:

You can see the full thing at http://search.ancestry.co.uk/browse/...ln=Terras&st=g

My best effort so far is:
JT on back of left hand.
Little finger missing from 2nd ????
small blue spot outside left upper arm and 2 ???? spots on junction of right thumb and forefinger
????? head and cap on forearm
scar on right cheek under right eye
small flesh mole on left arm small scar on right ???? of left eyebrow
scar on chest just below ????
small mole on left breast above armpit line

EDIT: If you have time to look at the original image then I'd also be pleased to know the 2 locations under 'where and when'.

He was my great great uncle's wife's first husband and not a very pleasant character. But I'm delighted to have found him!

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time!
    Kind regards,
    William

I don't have worldwide access to Ancestry so I can't see the whole thing I'm afraid but if you can post the relevant parts that you're interested in I'll see if I can work out the where and when

Thanks to you all - that is very helpful! I have also found him again in 1906 and have similar issues with some of the writing. The actual document can be seen at http://search.ancestry.co.uk/browse/...ln=Terras&st=g

The right hand side of the above text is next:

And the place names of where he was convicted...the last two are Sydney QS. Is the first one Glebe? Any idea what QS means?

I've had a few months away from family history and the bug has really bitten again...thanks for all your help!
            Kind regards,

Which part of ancestry did you find this on? I may have a relative who was deported and am looking for info

Thanks Judith - that makes sense.

c2ute - I've got a 14 day trial of World Ancestry...I think it's about £18 for a month. I made a selection at the bottom of the search page specifying that I wanted to focus upon Australia.

                        Wulliam,
It is GLEBE P Court Not sure what P stands for. - Glebe is an inner suburb of Sydney.

Quarter sessions were local courts, traditionally held every three months - hence the name quarter. They were abolished in the UK in 1972.

                        Cheers

Glebe P C is Glebe Police Court.
Police Courts (including Water Police Court) dealt with minor matters.

If you go to www.trove.nla.gov.au and search "Glebe Police Court Returns" you will get some hits which detail what business the court dealt with.
Similarly if you search "sydney quarter sessions" on Trove, you will find numerous newspaper reports of cases. I bet you put in your subject's name as well, you might get a report of the trial.
