I think this is the search page you need.

I've just found the Edwin Bent the bent copper who deserted his wife and children, bigamously married a pub landlady's daughter and ran a pub in Llandudno - then got a job with the railway police! (his dad, a police supertintendant have pulled some strings) so thanks for putting up the link. (There's a date of death too as he died in service.)

I have a few ancestors who worked on the railways but can't find them - very frustrating!!!

What a shame, it doesn't include the GNR, which is the only one I was interested in.

                      Hi Val

I can find them by searching the specific database quoted, but if I search from the general old search on the main home page the database does not show up in list of databases with hits. (just tried it again)

I don't think so - there's a list here of the companies whose records are included:

I am not sure which railway he worked for but a possible sighting in an 1861 census gave a clue to that line but I cant find my copy of it but Edward Thomas Lloyd was pre India Railways working as a railway clerk while in Liverpool.
