  • census help wanted.

    Hi

I have a William Raistrick married to a Julia Haynes in Bradford Yorkshire Oct qtr 1866
    She died in 1879.
I cant find her on any census prior to her marriage . Am assuming she was born 1843c in Gloucester ( as per the 1871 census where she is with William and her first two children Emma (1867) and Edgar (1869)
Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 4501; Folio: 39; Page: 29; GSU roll: 847129.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

William Raistrick was born in Idle Yorkshire, maybe like you say she was in service.

I think I may have her in 1861 but she has been mistranscribed as Hannies. The trouble is that it somes up on the wrong page. Give me a minute and I'll be back

i can't find her in the births, could she have been married before 1866? She could have gone into service and married up north? just an idea as can't find a Julia Haynes on the census unless she was born 10 years earlier...

I wondered about that cp when I couldn't find a birth. The first thing I did was cross check marriages for male Haynes with a Julia between about 1857 and 1866, then looked for deaths for the men. I found one that looked promising but unfortunately the groom didn't die.

Ohhhhhh that sounds awful doesn't it.

so, what scenarios do we have?
                                    1) she was previously married
                                    2) she wasnt registered at birth
                                    3) she was born earlier/later?
