  • Census for Clara Goulson please

    Morning all

Clara Goulson b1856 Birkenhead, I have a couple of refs from searches for her father Joseph but there are some gaps for the family, can anyone fill in the blanks please? I believe her father died in 1901 (a likely ref appears in the March quarter) so she could be alone or in another household somewhere.

There's a death of a Clara Goulson in 1937, age 80, registered in Liverpool South. Volume 8b, page 328.

        Could that be her?

Sorry, got to pop out now, so can't look further at the mo and maybe by the time I get back someone else will have found her for you.

Did have quick try for 1901 and 1911 but she didn't "pop" up, so she's probably been mis-transcribed somewhere.

          Cheers

Thanks for looking, i'm guessing the death ref is for her, there isn't a marriage for her name anywhere on freebmd and the age/area on the death ref would be a good match for her.

Clara does appear on the 1911 census living on private means but her age is incorrect.

Thanks folks, looks like the 1901 addy is either full of visitors or boarders, I feel I should know the address for some reason but not sure why, nothing fam hist related that's for sure, more like work!!!

Unusual occupation she had in 1881, I can't recall seeing it anywhere before.

the only thought I had to map painting, was during the war... but isnt that a tad early for that kind of thing? not unless it was Atlas maps? (as in books?)

Based in Birkenhead/Liverpool area though Julie, there was probably a market for maps with the maritime industry? And I suppose given the dates the towns and cities were still expanding. Makes you wonder if the works she produced were for business, education or decorative use, perhaps a mixture of all of them.
