  • Merge several trees

    I use FTM 2010.
I am doing a sort of one name study. At present I have each spelling variation in seperate trees but would like to merge them all as spellings often changed from one register to another. I know I can just merge all these trees but it would appear that I can't then keep each tree seperate as well.
I really want one large tree but as well to keep each name spelling in its own tree.
    Any ideas please?
I suspect it can't be done!

All you need to do is to create a new folder on your computer, copy each of the trees into that folder and then rename them. Use these renamed files for merging into one master file .. you still have all your original files untouched.

Thank you. So easy when you know how!
I was terrified I was going to get all the trees mixed up never to be unraveled again

A backup of all your trees before you start would also be advisable!
