  • Pension Records first World War

if a man was killed in 1914 would his wife have always been entitled to a war pension??

I have a George William KNIGHT transcribed as KNIGHTS born Lowestoft
    died aged 29 1914 Flanders

Private 1st Battalion Norfolk Regiment Number 6764

His wife had a child in 1914 so would have thought a pension would have been issued ????

Cannot find it on Ancestry or FMP ?? unless I'm missing something

    Thanks

            Val,
Had a look for your man, there are no records in either service or pension records. I believe that only somewhat in the order of 30 percent
or less were saved from the bombing of the repository in 1940. You probably have this but His MIC (Medal index card) has a written note on
the back of it saying "Mrs W. Massey applies for 14 star in respect of her late husband,"so it would seem that his widow remarried.
Whoever said Seek and Ye shall find was not a genealogist.
