Elizabeth's Father says Boat Builder
Alfreds's says Coffee House Keeper

HELP Please

whats going on ?

I see Elizabeth was born 1844, Alfred 1847 so perhaps they were being pedantic and recording dad's occupation at time of their births?

By the way did I thank you for that baptism record as my mail on there went a bit scew whiff ??? if not thanks very much for that.

Just a thought, Val. It might not apply here, but someone I've been looking at was described as a coffee house keeper. This was a common description for a Jewish person whose premises were more than a coffee house....it would have been a place for Jewish business meetings etc.
