  • BIG UPDATE on using ground previously buried on

I posted the other week about the local cemetery using a plot of land that had my Granddad and others buried in, as commoners graves, no markings, just a reference I was given in the office,it was a grassy area only,we noticed they were building ready made grave plots there,so I complained, nicley and after 2 e mails, they are very sorry but it has to happen as the spaces are running out,ok,yes, and they would like to give me FREE a bench with a plaque on it,my words included, would that be ok ???? yes yes yes, I cant believe it,just heard tonight, so have sent a reply back, well I never ,just shows you there are some thoughtful people still about,I am so happy, its better than what was there, nothing.!
    regards Patti

That's an unexpected gesture Patti. Have you had any thoughts about what you would like the plaque to say?

Call me an old cynic, but that sounds like a guilty conscience to me! A bench with a plaque on it costs an arm and a leg. I know, because we priced them up for my mum.

          That is absolutely unbelievable, Patti.

I had a small plaque made for my father's grave and that had his name, his dates and THREE WORDS on it. It cost me over £400 in 2000. A wooden memorial bench was FROM £600.

          Is it a private cemetery?
