The only Esther Ladbrook marriage I can find is in 1855 in Hackney to a Frank Merit. The birth date is about right, and the marriage date makes sense, given the birth of Fanny in 1858. Very mysterious!
          Best wishes, Polly

Do you have Emily's birth certificate? There is a suspicious seven year gap in the children and I think that indicates two different relationships.

Can anyone see any of these in 61? (Sorry, I don't have ancestry to look for myself.)

I can't see them at the moment in 1861 but am looking at the Esther Ladbrook marriage to Frank Merit.

I can see birth registrations for:
Elizabeth Fanny Merratt - 1857 - Colchester Essex
Emily Merrett -1859 - Edmonton (edit ...not sure this is the right one - can match it to another family!)

                    - but cannot see any suitable birth registrations in the name of Nunn.

Right, what about this one? Can anyone eliminate this couple in 1871?

                          Benjamin Nunn
                          to
                          Eliza Emma Nunn

                          Dec Q 1861 Ipswich 4a 1179

I know her first name is not quite right, but she was committing bigamy after all!

I had discounted that one OC.

The 4 names in the marriage index are
                            John Thomas Best
                            Prudence Brinkley
                            Benjamin Nunn
                            Eliza Emma Nunn

.. and there is an 1871 census entry for a John Thos Best with wife Eliza Emma, living in Ipswich

.. although at the moment I can't see Benjamim with Prudence!

I dont ,I am trying to find the marriage records to prove this, but there doesnt seem to be one.I originally thought Benjamins wife was Estha Smallbone but after another member with the same family told me it was Estha Ladbrook and the children ,Fanny and Emily were from Esthas previous marriage to Frank Merit.I have been looking for the marriage to Benjamin?

I imagine the answer is that Benjamin was married to Prudence and couldn't marry Esther.

                                        Nice, Meercat.

Esther Nunn died 1912 aged 75. There is no marriage for Benjamin Nunn between 1891 and 1912 to anyone called Esther or Ladbrook, so it looks as if they never married.
