  • Photos for my gran

    Hello everyone
I'm trying to make a photo album for my grans 70th birthday.
She only has one photo of her sister, who died age 4 in 1947.
Was wondering if anyone could "clean it up" a bit and possibly blow it up a little as its barely the size of my thumb.

And this is a photo of her parents. It's fading in colour a little and someones been at it with scissors

Any help would be great, Thanks in advance

Here's a quick clean but you really need to rescan at 300 DPI and a scale of at least 100%

If your original photo is very small then try increasing the scale to 250% or 300%

~ FOR PHOTO RESTORATIONS PLEASE SCAN AT A RESOLUTION OF 300-600 WITH THE SCALE AT 100% MINIMUM ~ http://restoreandcolour.brainwaving.co.uk

No not really, it's very pixellated and very small
What you need to do is increase the scale as well as the resolution.

If you can't do that, then try scanning at 600

I will have to study it when I get home. I'm not very good with the settings but I will find a "how to guide" got to love the Internet.

Did you look at this ?

Really all you need to do is to keep it simple
Don't fiddle with any fancy settings
Scan in colour even if your pic is black/white
Set the resolution to 300 DPI and the scale to at least 100%
If you don't have the scale option, then set the resolution at 600 DPI

If your photo is very tiny then try it at 300% scale
I can't be specific about the % because it depends on the size of your photo.

              good luck

Yes that's a better scan but oh darn ! that pattern/texture shows up more and is now a major nuisance.
You could try descreening before you scan (if you have that facility) otherwise, there's not a great deal one can do this end.
It will not end up as a sharp restore because dealing with the pattern will result in blurring to some extent.

                    Have PMd you
