Where do you come from? Thomas Presley

Apologies before I start for being long winded

I wonder if someone has some spare time if they would mind having a look for Thomas Presley for me before 1871

I'll give you what I have found, as there are two people of the same name in the same vicinity who are easily confused.

This is what I have for the first Thomas Presley. See next post for the other one

My question is - WHO is this Thomas Presley, who's child is he etc etc

If you find Ralph in the 1861 census Thomas is with them age 29? in Holbeck Nottinghamshire born Clown

In 1851 Holbeck Sarah is head with sons Ralph un, Joseph mar and daughter un.

in the 1841 census he is with Sarah & Ralph etc PreSSley

Thanks Mike. I hadn't found that 1861 census. Shame he wasn't with his parents. grr

The problem is there are two Thomas Presley's of a very similar age. I've got full details of the Thomas baptised in 1832 (see post one), but I can only find Thomas abt 1836 with his uncle.

As they both appear on the 1871 census I presume they are two different people?

Surely these are two Thomas Pres(s)ley's

one born to Joseph and Jane bapt 21 May 1831 Whitwell

and the other to Joseph and Ann bapt 30 Jan 1832 Clowne

Looks like Ann died after the birth of Thomas and before the start of Civil Registration

you could always find a possible marriage and see what the certs say for the father? surely both families can't have the same occupation?
