  • 1871 lookup please

    Afternoon all

    I'm trying to hunt down whether my grt grandfather married twice or three times and still have to locate him in the 1871 census (matching timeframe of possible first marriage).

    Possible first marriage could be this one;

    groom's name; George Chambers
    bride's name: Elizabeth Tuddenham

    marriage date: 1864
    marriage place: St. Martin, Lincoln, Lincoln, England

    groom's father's name: John Chambers
    bride's father's name: Robert Tuddenham

    Can anyone find;

    George Chambers, b1842, Lincoln (though later census have him usually as 1844), in or around the Lincoln area in 1871 either with or without a bride called Elizabeth?

    Thanks

      Could this be them
      RG10 piece 3371 folio 25 page 44
      George Chambers 29 brickmaker born Lincoln
      Elizabeth " 34 born Thetford Norfolk
      Elizabeth Clark niece 6 born Masboro York
      Fanny Gunthorpe servant

      Oops - beaten to it - but great minds think alike.

      PS there was another 29 year old George Chambers in Lincoln. He was a maltster with wife Mary.

        Spot on by the looks of it Carol. Thankyou.

        Newland St West comes in for later events with the Chambers family (not at the same house but there are dozens and dozens of cousins/sibs/children connected to this man).

        Now I wonder if they lost a newborn earlier given a baptism and death I found? Looks like a couple of certs might be on the way!

          And thanks Judith, I must have been typing while you posted.

          Ooh, just realised, George married a Lincoln girl 2nd time around and a Norfolk girl third time around, he must have had a thing for Norfolk broad
