  • Where to go from here?

I am trying to trace the Allpress family

The facts I have are these

Emily Maria Allpress b.12 Nov 1822 Chelsea Middlesex (Parish records)
Parents Joseph Allpress and Emily Mackley married 23 Jul 1817 St Mary, Newington, Surrey (Parish records)

I have found them in 1841 at Union Place, St Marys, Islington (HO107; Piece 664; Book: 12; Folio: 10; Page: 15;) Joseph's occupation is listed as Cabinet Maker.

Joseph died 22 August 1849 in London.

According to the family bible Joseph was born on 11 September 1793. Using Ancestry I found a christening record for Joseph in their England & Wales Christening records 1530-1906 it states

    Joseph Allpress
    Male
    Birth date 11 Sep 1793
    Christening date 7 May 1810
    Christening Place Westminster, London
    Age at Christening Adult

There is no mention of parents or anything else. How am I going to find out who his parents were?

Gosh Vicki, I nearly did a double take then. You are the first person I have come across searching for Allpress, apart from all my cousins of course.
It's a pity yours don't come from Cambridgeshire/Huntingdonshire. I have a very thick book of just about all of them. Including some in America.

p.s. Off to get my book out, just in case they are in it.

There's a;wys a chance the original records have more info.

It's frustrating that a lot of Westminster stuff hasn't been digitised on Ancestry
