    Hi

    I have a Joseph Lord born 1841 and the 1851 census it states that he is an orphan what other ways are there to find his parents

    I see he was in the Blaby Union workhouse in 1851 - it may be worth checking if the County Record office has admission registers for this as they may give details of Joseph's admission.
    The census entry gives his place of birth as Contisthorp, Leicestershire Have you checked FreeBMD for a birth registration as the birth certificate will give at least the mother's name. If his birth wasn't registered (or even if it was) a baptism entry would be worth searching for - either in Contisthorp, or perhaps Enderby where the workhouse was situated.
