  • Can anyone read this?

    This is the cause of death shown in a parish register of 1811. I can't make it out - can anyone else?

    The person writing the register seems to have used abbreviated words, such as "paralyt" and "convuls", but he's written "fever" and "dropsy" in full.

        In 1811, the medical diagnosis tools were not as extensive as they are today - not (we hope) as accurate.

        What would make someone "decline"? Some educated guesses: cancer, TB...
