  • Joseph James Wicks and wife Eliza - Missing in 1861

The info I have so far is Eliza Titchmarsh married Joseph James Wicks in West London in 1846

I have them in 1851 at Claremont Street, Edmonton, Middlesex (Class: HO107; Piece: 1703; Folio: 9; Page: 11)
Joseph Wicks age 38 - Occ - Coach Wheelwright - Born Edmonton, Middlesex
Eliza Wicks age 40 - Born Edmonton, Middlesex

Joseph James Wicks died 1867 in Marylebone, Middlesex

I have found a possible match for Eliza in 1881 in Bermondsey and a death in 1884 in Southwark.

So if anyone can help me find this couple in 1861 I would be very happy

    Thanks
    Vikki -

1861 is the more damaged of the censuses. Have you checked that the pieces for the likely areas still exist?

Agree with Christine, many of mine are missing on the 1861 due to many pages damaged or missing, I have access to the Find my Past site at the moment which enables you to search by address. I searched for claremont street in middlesex and the only pages that came up were houses 16a, 16b and 17 and none of the families fitted yours. I also searched under the name but had no luck I am afraid.

Thanks for the Advice and look-up Christine & Fuzzy, I keep forgetting that there are sections missing. I always remember the 1851 but never the 1861.

I am assuming then that they must have remained in Edmonton in 1861.

Off to search the 1871 for Eliza on her own.

        Thanks again x
