  • Lost great Aunt

    Hi,
4 of my grandfathers siblings (2M 2F) migrated to Canada between 1905 and 1908.
Of the males, one died of TB in 1920 and the other died by his own hand in 1928.
One of girls stayed in Canada until 1931 and then returned to her original home in
Jersey C.I. where she lived out the rest of her life.
However the other girl has been a bit of a puzzle. She married in 1909, her husband
died during an operation in 1920 and she sold her house in Toronto in 1921/22 and that
is the last I have been able to trace of her. Unfortunately Canadian death records/census
etc are still restricted and I have no idea where to look.
Her maiden name was Melvina Julia Hamon born in 1871 and she married Frederick Sharpe in Toronto in 1909.
Has anyone any clues on a possible was to trace her movements. Incidentally she did
    not return to Jersey.
    Cheers David

      Mary,
Boy that was quick, here am I have been looking for years and never came across it. Even belonged to an Ontario gen site and they never picked it up either.
Everything is correct except the birth year, should be 1871. Many, many thanks.

is like everything though David, the information given on the death is only as reliable as the person giving the dates etc..

I wqas surprised that this turned up on family search, it appeared to me than their records were overwhelmingly duplicated and in most cases
misleading so over the past few years I gravitated to the more specialised regional forums but always with no luck. I had half thought that she must
have survived until after the cut off date for information release (currently 1937 I believe). Must confess that the whole family also were a bit disfunctional
my g/father never (rarely) corresponded with his brothers and sisters - there were another 10 of them - consequently had virtually lost touch with them.
Only found about 5 years ago that 4 of them had migrated to Canada. Oh, the life of a family researcher.
            Cheers David

They've added a lot of new records recently on the new site I linked to, which is no doubt why you couldn't find it before.
