  • Help! I can't find my Masons

    Evening everyone

I am doing a tree for a family friend and I seem to have hit a wall (possibly because i'm tired)

Can anyone find William Henry Mason prior to the 1871 census.
Fathers details from marriage cert in 1871 - Arthur Mason, Gentleman

According to the 71-91 census he was born 1844 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
    1871 - Occupation Signalman
    1881 - Occupation Inn Keeper
    1891 - Stationary Clerk
Dies between 1897 and 1900 (Daughter married 1897, he was a witness, son married in 1900 father recorded as deceased)

    Census References
    1871 - RG10; Piece: 1276; Folio: 51; Page: 5 - Berkshire
    1881 - RG11; Piece: 1272; Folio: 16; Page: 6 - Berkshire
    1891 - RG12; Piece: 55; Folio 137; Page 42 - Chelsea, London

    Thanks

Now I can't find them in 1841 - gets really frustrating when you think you have found what you need

          Have you looked at
          HO107 / 363 / 7 / 9 - entry there for an Isabella b1838 Cowley - to match the 1851 census.

I did see that one, but I don't know if it is right.

I seem to have a problem - hope it makes sense

William Henry Mason - marriage cert - father Arthur Mason, Gent, Deceased
Isabel Harriett Dymock Mason married Daniel Hanson in 1863, and it lists her father as Dymock Mason, Gent, Deceased

Now I know that in 1871, William is lodging with Isabel and Daniel with his soon to be wife. In 1881 Williams son Edward is staying with Isabel and Daniel recorded as nephew. So I know I have the right couple, but I am confused as to why William and Isabel have different fathers names listed on their marriage certs.
