  • I've lost her after 1871

Can any one help me find my gt x 4 grandmother, Lois Stevens, after 1871 please.
She was bap Lois Ware in Framfield, Sussex in 1837 d. Thomas Ware
She married George Stevens in 1853 - Uckfield Sussex
In 1861 she is transcribed as Lowes Stevens, age 25, born Uckfield and in 1871 she is Louisa Stevens, widow, age 37, born Framfield.
    Any help greatly appreciated
    Thank you

    Have you discounted this marriage:

    Lois Stevens June 1878 Cranbrook 2a 993

    to either
    George Barrow or
    William Good.

    Other female is Alice Standen

Thank you OC, I hadn't thought of her remarrying and Cranbrook is not too far away.
Will check this out at the library.

There is a Lowis Good with husband William and one year old William in Arlington Sussex on 1881,but her age is 26,much too young for your Lois. However I can only see the transcription which may be wrong.

The image states she was born in Wadhurst, Sussex and is aged 26. I think the name says Louis though. William is also 26. I don't think anyone could reasonably shave 20 years off their age though, so it probably isn't your Lois.

            Thank you for the info.
I had a look for deaths of Lois Good or Barrow and found only one of each - one in Belper 1913 age 79 and one in Ticehurst 1928 age 82 - both are wrong for her dob but will check out the Kent connection at the library.
