No, sorry, it won't. Date of birth is only included after April 1969. But it will give an age (as known to the informant) and as the surname is quite rare, you should be able to tell immediately whether this is who you want.

Or - do you already know it is her, but were hoping for a date of birth because you can't find one?

I could do with some help or advice or where to go next with this..........

My great-grandmother was Lizzie Daniels, she married John Edwin Barnes, (who was from Poplar, London), on 27th Oct 1909 in Dublin. Lizzie is listed as full age and spinster and her father was John Daniels deceased. I have found Lizzie Daniels in 1911 census in Dublin listed as aged 23 and married for 2 years. I contacted the Dublin Reg.Office and the only listing they have which matches is an Elizabeth Daniel dob 21st July 1889 born in NDU Workhouse, Dublin, parents are listed as John Daniel and Elizabeth McCormack.

But how do I know if this is the right one especially as I dont have her mothers name.........help....!!!............how else can I prove this right or wrong without going to Dublin??........obviously the 1901 census would help, but I have searched and searched 1901 census for something that connects but as yet cant find one, what would have linked it is the dob being listed on the death cert hence the question soooooo frustrating this one. Unless anybody can see her on 1901 census for Ireland??

She may only have been born in the workhouse, Val. It was often the only place a mother could get free medical attention.

Small nitpicking point - if she was born 1889, she wasn't of full age when she married in 1909, but hey, lots of people lied about their age when they married.

              thanks val,
i must admit i was purely searching all daniels/daniel census entries for either lizzie elizabeth john etc and trying to find a match- i was assuming her mother or father might still be alive hadnt considered this possiiblity, certainly could be one of those LD ones, but how will i know for sure as no fatcs that i have coroborate any other

hi OC I was just thinking maybe her Father was already dead and so she may have been in a Workhouse not just born in one ?

Well sometimes you DON'T know if something is right.

You have to weigh up how many other Lizzie Daniels you can find and try to eliminate them. What you are left with is LIKELY to be yours, but by no means definitely, sorry!

You obviously have the civil copy of the marriage. Was she Catholic or Protestant? If the former then the church record often records both parents. You could write directly to the church & offer a donation.

                              Hi Paul
Did you solve your first query OK? The only death similar I can find in 1967 in Poplar is an Elizabeth Ensum April-June quarter 5d 595 (not Lizzie) and she is listed as 77 years old. So birth c1890.
Chrissie passed away in January 2020.

Were any of the DANIELS family a witness to the marriage? If so, it may be possible to find them listed with Lizzie at the time of a census.

                                Gwyn

yes Chrissie the death you list is the correct one, Elizabeth is Lizzie.
Unfortunately Gwyn, the witnesses were not Daniels.............this is getting more and more difficult

There are quite a few Irish parish records here, but it's a bit expensive unless the name's really unusual:

Search Irish Family History records online: parish registers; church records; Roman Catholic and Protestant. Irish Family History Foundation online research service for the 32 county genealogy centres throughout Ireland. Largest online Irish Genealogy records database for 32 counties.
