One of my g grandfathers was Herbert Hart Hudson (!) I've got as far back as his marriage in Nottingham in Sep 1883. I know he was a publican (on the census records) & I think I remember someone in the family saying he used to keep The Corn Exchange on Thurland St. Any way I can check this out please ?

I see from the census ( if I've got the right ones 1891 and 1901 ) that he is described as a cellarman and then licensed vitualler and barman which sounds that he was employed on licensed premises. According to Wright's Directory of Nottingham, 1894-95 there was a Corn Exchange in Thurland Street. Perhaps they had a bar on the premises. There are three directories for around this period, but unfortunately, each one only give the secretary's name.
