Australian scientists believe a skull discovered by a farmer could be that of notorious outlaw Ned Kelly or a Leicestershire-born serial killer.
Experts at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, in Melbourne, want to trace female descendants of Ashby-born serial killer Frederick Bailey Deeming to try to help solve the puzzle.
Deeming was born on July 30, 1853, to Thomas Deeming, a brass worker, and his mother Ann Deeming (née Bailey).
Some relatives distanced themselves by taking the name Bailey, or Bayley, instead of Deeming.
