  • 1841 - anyone fancy helping me look for 2 lost White's

    Evening everyone - Well seeing as I am snowed in might as well take the opportunity to do some searching.

    I have been looking for Charles William White, Occupation in 1844 and 1851 Cork Cutter
    Born 10 Sept 1822, Bap 08 Dec 1822 St George in the East Stepney
    Married Anna Sedgewick in 1844 St Giles without Cripplegate, Middlesex, London
    Parents Thomas and Ann. Thomas Occupation Mathematical Instrument Maker

    Also looking for his brother George Samuel White, Occupation 1846 Cork Cutter, 1851 Labourer
    Born c1824 St George in the East Stepney
    Married Elizabeth Thornes 1846 St John the Evangelist, Lambeth Surrey
    Parents Thomas and Ann. Thomas Occupation Mathematical Instrument Maker

    If anyone can see them, i'd be grateful for the assisstance

        Have a look at this Charles White and see if you can make out the occupation. I think it says Cork cutters (Apprentice?)

          Mwah, Thanks Jackie. I agree it is Cork Cutter (something), Also looks like he is living with his mum Ann, and possibly another brother Richard....Gives me another one to look for

            Just found a marriage for Richard in 1850 to Jane Savage, Richards occupation is Cork Cutter and his father Thomas is Mathematical instrument maker - So you have found the right family - Thanks Jackie x

              George is proving more difficult because there are so many of them.

              I've found Emma's marriage to George Henry Ayrton in 1852 which gives the father as Thomas, mathematical instrument maker so that fits. Interesting though that one of the witnesses is a Thomas White so I don't know if that's the father or another relative.

                The eldest child of Thomas and Ann is also Thomas, I am assuming (famous last words) that Thomas (Snr) died prior to 1841 which is why Ann is listed as Ind(ependent means)
