  • Probate question

    If someone made a will in England and then died in another country would probate still be in England.


    I have the will and the probate but cannot find out where he died, the probate doesn't say where he died.

    Yes, I think if he was a UK citizen and had assets in the UK the will (or at least that part of it covering UK assets) would be probated in England and Wales. Don't forget he could have died in Scotland as well as overseas.

      Forgot to mention that he was an Italian but lived and work in Kensington and he own property in London in the 1900 Story goes but no prove he went back to Italy to die

        I think the same is true of people who made a will in Scotland or had property there and died elsewhere. Searching the free index to wills on ScotlandsPeople gives quite a lot of examples of wills proved in Scotland for people living elsewhere.
