  • 1916 - births on ancestry.

Has anyone noticed the change or indeed has it been like this for a while?
Whilst searching for the birth of a Thomas Brewerton it shows all Thomas', even those with married mother Brewerton. In other words if Mary Brewerton married Bob Smith Thomas Smith comes with Mothers surname.
    Very handy.
If it's to be, it's up to me.
    Searching for:
English: Brewerton, Wilkes, Edwards, Broughton, Piercy, Brundred, Homer, Parry, Wynn, Nock, Noden, Standley and Taylor.

Scottish: McDougall,Gemmell, Hunter, Stewart, Campbell, Downs, Galt, Frew, Hill, Hand, Main, Thomson, McLarty and Murdock.

It's not doing that for me. The main search result is always Thomas Smith and then when you hover the cursor over his record it will show his mother's maiden name.

Yes I noticed it doing that a couple of weeks ago. It gives a list of all the other entries with the surname you are searching for as the mothers maiden name . Searching for Artiss gives Artiss to start off with then after them gives all the others ending with John Wright whose mothers maiden name was Artiss
