  • Date of a Death

I am trying to find the actual date of death of my 3x1st cousin, William John Gough b30/03/1872 in Coventry and died in Meriden District 1942 aged 70.

The death certificate will give you the date and place of death.

PLEASE SCAN AT 300-600 DPI FOR RESTORATION PURPOSES. THANK YOU!

I think you can only find that out by ordering the death cert. You might on the other hand be lucky and find a record of a burial in one of the local cemeteries. Try the Coventry City Council site to see if they have an online database.

Just had a quick look at the probate calendar but it only goes to 1941 :(

You may need to be a bit creative. "There's a war on, you know" and the area around Birmingham and Coventry was heavily bombed.

The bombs didn't quite reach Meriden where he was living!!!!! I've checked for deaths in the Coventry Blitz and he wasn't one of the victims.
