  • Looking for Edward Chapman 1861 -1901 census please

I found details about Edward Chapman in a book I've recently bought & am now trying to fill in his details. I have hime with his parents in 1841 and 51 but hadn't previously found him after that. Thanks to GR's free hours, I have him in 1911 with wife Sarah & son Hodgson and am now keen to fill in the missing census years. I have found him on Ancestry but don't have a subscription to see the details

Edward Chapman c1840 Barton upon Humber Lincolnshire, wife Sarah Frances c 1846 Easington Yorkshire. They are living in Barton. I am also trying to find their marriage.

    Many thanks for any help
    Lynn

Many thanks Elaine, but I seem to have hit a problem, my Edward has parents George & Jane :(, I had a look at the baptisms on Familysearch & there are 2. My Edward appears in 1881 aboard a boat in Grimsby

The 1881 I found is RG11 3278 / 48 he is a mate aboard the "John" in Great Grimsby.
I don't have the actual refs for 1841/51, but he was living with his parents George c1797 and Jane c 1801 both born in Barton, on Newport St Barton Lincs
It looks like the man I found in the book was the other Edward, as it referred to him as being a boat owner, but now I have started to look for this Edward, I want to find him!

Have found the 1841 - Edward Chapman born c1840 - with parents George & Jane.
HO107; Piece 627; Book: 7; Civil Parish: Barton Upon Humber St Mary; County: Lincolnshire; Enumeration District: 2; Folio: 32; Page: 21; Line: 5

1881 shows Edward Chapman born 1839 Barton, Lincs - on board vessel "John"
                        RG11; Piece: 3278; Folio: 48; Page: -8

I presume that the Edward Chapman that we started with - 1911 census with wife Sarah - is the wrong one!

Sadly yes, but I would still like to find out what happened to this one. I have a seperate Chapman family in Barton that I have been trying to connect with George, perhaps they are connected to the other Edward instead?

Looking at it further, Edward in the first post is the son of Edward & Mary, that Edward appears to be the son of Edward & Ann who appears to be the son of Edward & Elizabeth, who are my GGGG grandparents! I had been trying to link the the 2nd Edward's father George with this family, I am related to George's wife Jane

I think I have found Edward (c1783 Barton) & Ann in Yorkshire in 1851 but can't be sure without seeing the details

Brilliant Chrissie, thanks I have a list of baptisms to Edward & Ann & they had a daughter Ann who matches that one. So it certainly looks like the Edward I was first looking at is a rellie after all
