I think you will find quite a few members do have access, most probably through Findmypast. However, the terms of their subscription with FMP does not allow them to do lookups for others.

Depending on how common the surname is you can often find out quite a bit using free searches on the 1911 census website and Genes Reunited.

The 1911 census on GR has been done slightly differently, in that it gives birthplaces.
