        They are, indeed, useful.

        My father was a Rector, but I'd never found anything very definitive to be certain of the distinctions.

            But Rural Deans are also a vicar, rector or priest-in-charge as well! No-one's mentioned the priest-in-charge yet, which seems to be getting more common.

              Vicars live in vicarages and rectors in rectories. Then there are manses and parsonages.....

                I have innumerable Scottish clergy in my tree, so I have about 20 manses listed as census addresses.
