I keep getting a notice come up on my screen to update to AVG 11. I am on AVG 9 (free version) at the moment. Has anyone updated to this yet please?

I've just put AVG free on my lap top and that was version 11, bit miffed really as I have the paid for version on my computer and that is version 9.

Margaret, I have AVG 9 - free version at the moment. That was what I meant to ask - if AVG 11 is also free, but obviously it is if yours is. Thanks. Did you have to uninstall AVG 9 before you downloaded AVG 11?Stella passed away December 2014Comment

Stella, I 'upgraded' from MS Essentials as I never really trusted it! I didn't bother to uninstall but was reminded to do so before AVG finished installing, as you wouldn't be changing the product I imagine that it would be a straightforward upgrade.

I upgraded to the free version of AVG2011 last night and I am now getting warning messages telling me that I am not protected for Anti virus nor Anti spyware..HELP!!!

I could cry! It took an hour to install, then said it was out of date and asked me to click "fix all" to resolve the problem, which I did. It then did an entire scan which took THREE HOURS (all this in the middle of the night!) then it automatically rebooted and now it is telling me AVG2011 is out of date and I don't have any anti-virus protection nor spyware. Invites me to click "resolve all" but nothing happenes except directing me to upgrade to pay.
I don't know what to do.

Oh heck OC, well I shall leave well alone then. I've just looked at my AVG 9 version and it says I am fully protected, like I always am, so will stay put. Isn't it possible for you to uninstall AVG 11 and go back to AVG 9 ? Perhaps someone else on here can tell you what to do.Stella passed away December 2014Comment

I upgraded mine on Monday and after scanning my PC for 5 1/2 hours, and finding nothing, it is working OK.Wendy

Don't panic - it does that until you have updated the programme. Once 2011 is installed (and it does uninstall 09 automatically) it has to be updated, until that happens, as the old programme has been removed, you will get a notice to say that you are not protected. If you want it to happen quicker rather than just waiting for it to update itself just open AVG and on the left hand side there is a box showing Update - click on that and everything will be updated and the warning will go away.Originally posted by Olde Crone Holden View Post
