  • 20th Century Newspapers

I have discovered the deaths of Two Spinster sisters on the same date in 1917.
I suspect there may have been some kind of accident. The area is Barnstaple, Devon.
Are there any newspapers on line for this period.

I have access to the Guardian archives. Mainly north of England news, but give me details, I'll have a look.
You can always try Google news http://news.google.com/archivesearch
or Daily Mirror and Express (payment required). http://www.ukpressonline.co.uk/ukpressonline/

Thanks anyway. Looks like I will have to buy death Cert.
Incidentally that Express newspaper link was very good. It was free to search, but you had to register to use the advanced search.

                  Thanks again

It came from Keldon actually, but no probs. The site seemed very good especially as you could search for free.

I just signed up to the site only to find that it is not free and prices start from about £5 for 2 days and ever increasing so I dont reccomend it. I wish now I had not given all my details, but you can not look at it without giving everything.
I think the initial search was free but useless as you can not see it.
