  • Eliza Pearce

Here is one I have been stuck on for years. Eliza Pearce was born June 1866 in Bridgewater Somerset UK. She married a John Roberts,, March 1886. Over the years they had 11 babies, some that died young and some that didnt. :(

I cannot find any information on Eliza. She died at age 66 at Wellington Somerset or Taunton Somerset in 1932. I think she may have died in a workhouse.

I am looking for anything that can tell me her parentage,, and i know that that is not a easy call, but sometimes new eyes see new things, ;) Eliza is my great great grandmother...

And just for something to do I have left a picture here for all of you to see.. She never smoked a day in her life but was excited by this car,, and thought the cigarette would make her classy looking, like the car belonged to her.

Do you have her marriage certificate to John Rogers as that would give the name of her father and his occupation - might help locate her in the census.
Have you found an entry in the BMD index for her birth certificate - or more importantly do you have her birth certificate?

I have thought that too, I have found a couple things that make me unsure that her mother ever married even though I believe there is alot of children (up to 7). I cannot imagine how that happened. My grandmother had a baby out of wedlock in the early 1930's and her life was horrible (as in how she was treated) I cannot imagine in the mid 1800's doing that. Wonder if Elizas mother was a ballroom lady?

and doing a free search on the 1911 census, the household appears to be

                    ROBERTS EDITH MAY 1900

I think you need to get her marriage certificate to John Rogers.
Even though it may not have a father listed, the witnesses may be useful in identifying other family members.

Via the General Register Office - cost 9.25 pounds sterling, includes worldwide postage.

You will need the details of the marriage registration which I have just added to post #11
