I can't find Henry Walter Guilford on the 1871 census.
He was born on 28th May 1870 in Denton, Newhaven, Sussex. His mother died in the July, presumably from complications of childbirth. His father, Walter Guilford (1848 Brighton) worked at Newhaven Station as a booking goods clerk, but the day before the 1871 census was taken he was promoted to station master at Eridge station in Sussex. He can be found lodging at the Railway Inn, Rotherfield, on census night.
Henry Walter Guilford would have been 10 months old, so someone must be looking after him somewhere... but where? Walter got remarried a few months later and the 1881 census shows Henry living with them.
Thanks for your help
