  • Photo Dating (1950s/60s)

    Dear all,

Three snaps of my family in a park somewhere around Crosby in Liverpool in the 1950s or 1960s (I think). I was contemplating trying to date the photos by judging the age of the persons within - as I'm not too good at fashions of this time! There are five people in the three photos.

First photo is my Grandparents Fred and Sal (on the right) with his brother Walter and his wife Gladys on the left.
Second photo is Walter, Gladys and a third brother, Doug.
Third photo is Doug and his sister-in-laws Gladys and Sal.

Now, I'd put Sal at about 42, Fred at about 44, Walter about 51, Gladys probably more like 54 and Doug around 41. Taking these against their birth years, this would give me a year for the photos of 1958.

But what do you experts think...?

The lady on the left is wearing what was known as a Duster coat and was at the height of fashion in the late 50's and early 60's.
I don't think you can be far out.
