  • Unusal 1911 Census entry

    Hi

I have never come across this before
A relatives entry in the 1911 census.
    She left person 1 empty
puts her details in line 2 as
name, age and in the next column Separated and then continues with the number of years married children born living dead etc.
Then follow some of the children and she signs
    Mike in Droitwich

    My family tree is on

Probably not very common at that time to openly acknowledge that she was separated. I think we have all found examples of ancestors being listed as widow(er) and then finding the "dead" spouse living elsewhere!
Maybe she felt that line 1 was for the "head" of the household, which in those days was generally the man!

Found my Granmother on the 1911 twice, once with her Parents in Lambeth and then with her Aunt in Birmingham as an adopted Daughter. Alan.
