    looking for pyfinches in canada

  • #2
    What resources have you tried?
There's quite a lot of material available online - some of it for free. Have you looked in the FTF Reference Library? (There's a link in the top bar, just below the banner.)
Are you talking about living people, or traces from the past?

There are four Pyefinches listed in Manitoba on 1901 census. None on 1906 though, but this was only taken in Manitoba, Saskatchewan & Alberta.

FMP has 40 PYEFINCH sailings out of England 1890-1960, some of which appear to be the same person at different times. Most of the PYEFINCH sailings were from about 1906 onwards.

There's a family of 6 travelling to St Johns in 1907, and a trio of (probable) sisters in 1911 to Montreal. Vera PYE-FINCH travelled to Canada in 1925 and 1930, and James in 1936.

          There's a single PYFINCH in 1908.
One family seems to have opted for Kenya, instead.

You haven't mentioned where you've already looked, or what records you have at your disposal. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to give you more detail from the FMP records, because that would be a breach of the T&C of my sub, but it does give you an indication of what might be available to you.
