Dolly or Dorothy

Could Dolly be a shortened version of Dorothy? I have a Dolly Turner, but can only find a marriage in the right place and time for a Dorothy Turner. Is it worth more investigation?

Yes, Dolly is a commonly found pet form of Dorothy.

Dolly is short for Dorothy, it could also be short for Doris as a relative in my tree was Doris but was always called either Dolly or Doll.

I've got Dorothy's, Doris' & the occasional Doreen who were known as Dolly.
