  • 10th Battalion Cheshire regiment

    Hello all

My nan's uncle was killed in action on the 13/01/1918 at France and Flanders.
What major battle was fought that my relative was involved in to have died then?
He was in the 10th Battalion Cheshire regiment.

Any help would be greatly received.

Sorry all I have just looked back on this message and realised I have asked this before. So many times I have done similar things, I need to check before posting.

Just to clarify for the benefit of anyone with a similar query. "Killed in action" doesn't necessarily mean that a man was killed in a battle, major or otherwise. Men were killed every day in the general routine of trench warfare - by sniper fire, stray shells etc. The battalion war diary is usually the best source of information, although it's rare for casualties to be named unless they were officers.
