I have received this photo from a relative. She has told me his name, however he was born in 1917. I also had one of him in uniform, which members of the Great War Forum have dated to just after WW1, so it can't be the man born 1917 after all. I think this was taken in the 1910s, possibly 1920s. Usually people got dressed up for a photo session in those days, yet he's wearing a jumper which makes me think it's something to do with the sea perhaps? I've been to the Lifeboat Museum in Eastbourne today and can find no mention of him. Anyway they are wearing black jumpers in all the photos, so perhaps he was a fisherman. Any other ideas why a jumper could be significant please??
