  • Using Ancestry is there a way..............?

That you can pull up all the GRO refs for a surname covering 1920ish to date?

I'm missing heaps of births, marriages and deaths for my one name study and not having used Ancestry for ages (and still not having a sub) i'm behind the times with what the site now offers.

Yes, you can put in just a surname and range of years from 1916 onwards in Ancestry. You would have to do the births, marriages and death searches separately though.

I like these later years searches on Ancestry. I just checked it out for you with a very rare name on my tree. I selected births, 1935+/-20 and the top dozen or so were the actual name then it started on those with that name as mother's maiden name.

      Thanks Anne

I'll have to try and wangle a 14 day trial and block book the library pc.

I doubt there are that many entries for the name i want (less than 400 events on freebmd and it's a name thats getting rarer).

Lots of libraries have free ancestry to the public on an institutional subscription anyway Glen, check next time you're in.

          Hi Kate

Sadly the Scottish libraries don't subscribe, most don't even allow access to the IGI!!
