  • Zoar Chapel, Norwich

I have a relative, Matthias Gooderham, who was a Baptist minister at the Zoar Chapel, Norwich between at least the 1871 census and when he died in 1908. It is listed as a 'Strict Baptist Church' in Jarrold’s Norwich Directory under Nonconformist Places of Worship. Matthias and his family lived at Cardiff Villas, Cardiff Road.

Can anyone tell me anything else about this Chapel or, indeed, if they have any relatives who may have been baptised there.

Thanks for the link Wendy, I had already found this. It seemed to me that my ancestor must have been party to the 'split' in the Church which the blog mentions, although it strangely refers to another Minister, Alfred Dye.

Matthias must have been Minister when the Chapel was built in the 1880's. I wondered if anyone knew anything more about the history of the building or it's occupants.
