  • On-line BMD's for The Netherlands help please.

    I am trying to help my niece research her fiance's paternal line, but I have nevr had to find BMDs for the Netherlands and don't know where to look.

    His father was born in 1931 exact birth place not known but possibly The Hague), and he married his English bride c1960 in the Hague.

    The surname is Navarro and any help would be appreciated.

    This is a good starting point. I'm not sure that you'll be able to find records that recent though

      Hi Wendy,

      Dutch birth registers become public after 100 years (marriage registers after 75 years, and death registers after 50 years), so you're unlikely to find anything online for 1931. Navarro is not a Dutch name though, and would therefore be uncommon, so it may be possible to find something in the earlier records. PM me the details if you like, and I'll see if I can find anything.

      The Family Search Pilot Site has recently added images of lots of Dutch civil registers, including The Hague. To find the records, go FamilySearch Record Search > Search or Browse our record collections > click on Europe > Netherlands, Civil Registration, 1792-1952 > browse images > Zuid-Holland > 's Gravenhage.
      The Hague is called both Den Haag and 's Gravenhage in Dutch.
      Geboorten = births
      Bijlagen = supplements
      Huwelijken = marriages
      Overlijden = deaths

      Civil registers for The Hague can also be searched online on The Hague Archives site (in Dutch): http://www.denhaag.nl/home/bewoners/...studiezaal.htm

      To locate records for other places in Holland, the link Jackie gave is a good place to start. There are loads of records available online, but spread over a number of different websites. The main ones are Genlias and the Digital Family Tree sites, and now also the records on FamilySearch Record Search, although those aren't indexed.

      Genlias: http://www.genlias.nl/en/page0.jsp
      Digital Family Tree: http://www.digitalestamboom.nl/search.aspx?lang=en-US

      This is also a good site, with a huge collection of links to digitised records: http://geneaknowhow.net/digi/resources.html

            I would just like to make a public thank you to Sarah.

            Not only has she given me info as to where to look, but she has found members of the Navarro family, which takes the tree back to my niece's fiance's GG Grandfather. We just have to find the marriage to prove we have the correct family, but I am pretty sure Sarah has found the right ones.

            So many many thanks Sarah.
