  • German study

My german ancestor, born in the UK, returned to Germany c.1874.

In 1874 he was 1yr.old. Later, in his Army Record, I discovered that he had an
apprenticeship under a Professor in Hannover, Germany. He apparently wanted
to become a Draughtsman at that time, I do not know which trade, but his main
    love was sculpting.

My question is, would anyone know where I should start looking for records of the above nature, i.e. where would a young person in, say, 1888, study.

A draughtsman is a technical designer, similar to an architect.
