  • Arthur Wilson 1925

Hi, i am desperately trying to find info on my natural Grandfather,Athur Wilson. According to my Dad's birth cert he was a Confectionery Market Trader in 1925 and lived at 65 Clouds Hill Rd,St Georges,Bristol. I'm told there may be more info on the electoral roll or on archives to do with Bristol markets,I live in Bedford however so a visit is not possible at present. The Bristol library website states that they are doing no online research at present because of development work. If anyone has a bit of time to spare and is visiting the Library, would they have a look for me please.:(

The electoral registers will only tell you who, aged over 18 were registered to vote at an address.

Was Arthur Wilson married to your dad's mother at the time of his birth?

Hi - there are mentions of 65 Clouds Hill Rd in the London Gazette, but much later years - http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/search
Also, have you tried http://www.bafhs.org.uk/ Bristol & Avon Family History Society
FreeBMD shows a few with the name in Bristol http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl - two marriages after 1925 for example...

No, not married. She has a complicated history. Hilda Ivy Gorman b.1906 in Aston,Birmingham. No marriage listed but shown on Dad's birth cert as Wilson formerley Nicholls. Apparrantly disowned by family as Dad was brought up by his Grandparents.
