  • Record Office: East Sussex Record Office - Lewes

If anyone is visiting Lewes Record Office, I would be grateful if they could have a look for baptism of Ebenezer Douch, sometime between 1800 - 1818 born in Westham, Sussex. I would like to know who his parents were.

    Thanks

    Linda

        Hi Linda

I've just found out that the records I was after have been transferred to Kent so I won't be going after all.

        Sorry Jan

I have access to the SFHG online parish records. I cannot find any baptism of Ebenezer Douch in Westham. I have found his burial and records of baptisms of his children but not the man himself, the details of burial are -

Entry from Westham St. Mary 1571-1899
            FORENAME Ebenezer
            SURNAME DOUCH
            AGE 75
            BURIAL DATE 18-Jun
            YEAR 1886
            PLACE Westham
            LOCATION St.Mary

I did do a wider search but got no joy on the records that SFHG have on their database presently.
            Good luck with your search
            Jo

If you would like a photo of the grave I probably will be able to get one for you next month when I'm down that way

Jo, thanks very much - you would think with a name like Ebenezer Douch he would be able to find! Rachel, thanks for the offer, that would be great but only if you have the time.

Hopefully should, as I plan to visit a cousin in Westham whilst down there

Also hope that I can find it as I couldn't find my 3x great grandfather's at nearby Pevensey, even though I know it's there.
